Highlands School Closures Council 2025 Election. More than 180 schools in scotland have been forced to close on monday (january 15) as snow and icy weather causes disruption. Parts of the highland, western isles and aberdeenshire have been impacted with the met office warning conditions will remain tricky into wednesday morning.
A new panel set up to review school closure plans has, for the first time, overturned a decision by a scottish council to shut schools in its area. Elections are held every five years to elect six board members to the crofting commission.
